Shared Moments
This space is dedicated to the people I’ve met while offering free photography lessons around Austin — young, old, curious, creative
Each person brings their own story, and together we explore how to tell those stories through light, composition, and intuition
Capturing Together is about more than just photography — it’s about connection, shared learning, and building something beautiful in community.
The following works are from those kind enough to share.
Jack
Jack’s a 27 year-old guitarist who recently picked up his first Canon camera, just looking for a fresh creative outlet outside of work and music. What started as a “why not?” kind of curiosity turned into a deep dive into the basics (ie, exposure, focus, composition) and he brought the same hands on focus he uses when learning a new song.We spent a day out shooting together, everything from horses to some curious longhorns, plus a bit of quick street photography around town. It was cool to see how naturally he framed things, catching light and shape the same way he might catch a riff, just now it was shadows on pavement or the curve of a fence line. What stood out most? He wasn’t afraid to experiment. Asking questions, trying different angles, and really trying to feel the shot. Watching someone start to translate their creative instincts into a new visual language is one of the best parts of teaching (and I’m excited to see where Jack takes it next)!
Andre
Andre’s one of those people who’s into everything (guitar, salsa dancing, mountain biking, soccer ) you name it! He’s all about being outdoors and pretty much lives outside whenever he can. We had a great time hanging out and talking about his background, his entrepreneurial mindset, and what he’s building for the future. Super inspiring stuff. We also got to shoot some animals out in the wild, which was a blast!
Juan
Hanging out with Juan was a good time. He’s a super chill guy who’s into running around the lake and keeping up with his garden at home. He told me all about the garlic, beets, and tomatoes he’s growing ( honestly made me want to start a garden myself). Juan was curious about how to step up his iPhone photography game, so we went over some of the settings and also talked about one of the biggest keys to a great photo: timing. We covered golden hour vs. blue hour and how much of a difference that light makes, especially when shooting landscapes. In my opinion, golden hour always brings out the best skies and colors. And yep, Juan saw firsthand that with the right timing and a bit of know-how, you can get some pretty pro-looking shots straight from your phone, just like the ones here.
Bailey and the ANXY team
Bailey and his crew are kicking off a gym clothing brand (think shirts, hats, hoodies, and more). While they watched me shoot and picked up a few tips on how to start taking their own photos, this time around they just wanted some cool, edgy shots to show off their gear. We headed out near Town Lake and the 360 Bridge to get the vibe they were going for, and yeah, it was a good time. No pressure, just shooting for fun (and free), getting some clean looks for their launch.
