Matthew Gavrilov

Hi, I’m Matthew — a photographer with a deep love for capturing people, places, and the way light transforms them both.

I’ve been behind the lens since I was 13, and over the years I’ve learned that photography is less about gear and more about seeing. That said, I know how hard it can be to learn photography when access to quality equipment feels out of reach. My mission is to make the art of photography accessible — not just by sharing my knowledge, but by sharing my tools, my time, and my mistakes, so others can grow faster than I did.

Through free, one-on-one lessons around Austin, I work with people of all ages and backgrounds — whether it’s helping someone frame their first shot on a borrowed DSLR, or showing them how to capture stunning images using just a phone. These sessions aren’t about perfection — they’re about curiosity, confidence, and learning to tell your own story through images.

For me, teaching photography is just as meaningful as taking photos. It’s a chance to connect, to listen, and to help others see the world in a new way — and maybe even see themselves a little differently too.
